TABLE OF CONTENTS

Are you on your way to achieving your body goals? Have you tried a bunch of exercises including thigh slimming exercises but still don’t see the result? Then you probably should consider intermittent fasting.

By following a certain intermittent fasting schedule that aligns with your lifestyle, you may potentially benefit not only your physical health, but also your skin condition.

Many people have caught a glimpse of the intermittent fasting potential to lose weight. By simply controlling when they eat, they can start to control their food cravings.

Such a diet program also appears to be more convenient and simpler than any of the popular diets out there.

Unlike other restrictive diets that require cutting out certain groups of food and counting on calorie intake, intermittent fasting is more flexible.

But, many also struggle to stay consistent with their intermittent fasting schedule, and as a result fail to achieve the desired goal.

Nonetheless, intermittent fasting is still generally considered as an effective diet program if done properly.

Let’s cut to the chase and explore everything you need to know about intermittent fasting below!

The Perfect Duo

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Generally, the idea of intermittent fasting is not about starving yourself but more into deciding when you can eat.

With intermittent fasting, you eat during a specific scheduled time in order to regulate your calories intake.

In intermittent fasting, there are no specific requirements related to what foods to avoid, so it’s more like a lifestyle than a diet.

Here, we’re about to discover a variety of ways of doing intermittent fasting, especially for women. As it is not a “”one-size fits all” thing, suit yourself with the ones that work well with your body.

Intermittent Fasting Schedule for Women

There are some ways of intermittent fasting which women are advised to follow, from the popular 16/8 method to the 5:2 diet.

1. The 5:2 Diet

Also known as “”The fast diet”, this type of program requires you to restrict your calories intake to 25% to your usual amount (500 calories) for two days a week (with one day break in between). Meanwhile, on the other 5 days, you can eat as you usually do.

2. Crescendo Method

Next one, you can try the Crescendo method, by fasting 12-16 hours for two or three days a week (nonconsecutively). Give space evenly across the week. For example, you can fast on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

3. The 16/8 Method

The 16/8 method intermittent fasting schedule requires you to fast for 16 hours a day and eat all the calories within an 8 hour range. It is advised for women to start with 14 hours first and build it up to 16 hours.

4. Alternate-Day Fasting

With a modified alternate-day fasting, you can fast every other day. On your non-fasting days, you are allowed to eat normally, but only allowed to eat 20-25% of your regular calorie intake on the fasting day.

5. Eat – Stop – Eat

Next, you can try this eat-stop-eat intermittent fasting. The schedule is done through a 24-hour full fast for once or twice in maximum in a week. Thus, this type of intermittent fasting is also called “The 24-hour protocol”. However, you can take a small step by doing 14-16 hour fasts and gradually increase it.

6. The Warrior Diet

Unlike the other intermittent fasting schedules, the warrior diet involves consuming small portions of raw fruits or vegetables during the day, then followed by taking a huge meal at night within a 4 hour window.

Whichever schedule you want to follow, make sure that you can tolerate and sustain it in the long-term, without causing any negative health consequences.

Intermittent Fasting Benefits

Benefits of intermittent fasting widely vary from maintaining your health and skin condition, such as:

  • Help losing weight. Undergoing intermittent fasting may help if you have a weight loss diet plan. It helps you consume fewer calories and boost your metabolism. Hence, it’s an effective tool to lose weight and fat.
  • Reduce insulin resistance. Some studies on intermittent fasting reveal that it helps people with prediabetes reduce their fasting blood sugar by 3-6%. This implies that intermittent fasting can protect people with the risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • Maintain heart health. Studies have suggested that intermittent fasting may ease some risk factors associated with heart disease, such as cholesterol level, blood pressure, and blood triglycerides.
  • Boost skin condition. Aside from losing weight, you can also obtain intermittent fasting benefits for skin. Through detoxification, intermittent fasting can result in clearer and brighter skin, while also reducing irritations and fine wrinkles.

Is Intermittent Fasting Safe?

Though you can get enormous intermittent fasting benefits, you can’t just do intermittent fasting carelessly, especially if you have certain medical conditions.

If you have a history of eating disorders, diabetics, currently pregnant, or underweight, you most likely can’t carry out intermittent fasting.

At the end of the day, intermittent fasting appears to be safe if you consistently follow the schedule we’ve explained above. If any side effects arise, you can stop fasting immediately.
